Orbost Medical Clinic is a friendly and welcoming centre, catering to all ages and all backgrounds.

We are very proud to have been providing trusted care and quality medical services to the people of this community since 2005.

The clinic is fully accredited against the Royal Australian College of General Practitioners (RACGP) Standards by the Australian General Practice Accreditation Limited (AGPAL).

Orbost Medical Clinic caters for a wide range of basic medical procedures with fully functional treatment rooms and practice nurses.

We have experienced doctors, all of whom have General Registration with the Australian Health Practitioners Regulatory Agency (AHPRA).

Our clinic is a leading teaching and supervising practice, where we encourage registrars, medical students and nursing students to train at our clinics. We are committed to helping train the medical workforce of the future.

We take students from Monash University on clinical placements and we encourage our patients to allow students to participate in their consultations.

Onsite Medicare rebates are available via our online software, and competitive rates offered including bulk-billing for children, Health Care Card holders and Pension Card holders.    

Fees

(As of Monday, 3 July 2023.)

Fees for private patient doctor consultations:

  • Level A – Brief - $53.85 (Patient out of pocket $35)
  • Level B – Standard - $76.20 (Patient out of pocket $35)
  • Level C – Long - $114.70 (Patient out of pocket $35)
  • Level D – Prolonged - $152.40 (Patient out of pocket $35)

These fees apply to all private billings and will be charged to all patients who do not have current eligible concession.

Current eligible concessions include Health Care Card holders, Pension Card holders and children under the age of 16.

The $35 out-of-pocket expense applies to both face to face as well as telehealth appointments.

It will also be charged to private patients at outreach clinics including Buchan, Cann River and Moogji Aboriginal Clinic.

Orbost Regional Health Staff and their families will also incur the $35 out of pocket expense if they do not have current eligible concession.

Repeat Prescription Service

Patients can request a 5 minute phone appointment for repeat prescriptions for their usual medications.

Our repeat script service usually runs each weekday between 2 - 3pm.

Call the Medical Clinic's main reception at 5154 6777 to book your appointment.  

Your prescription will be sent to the Orbost Pharmacy for your collection.

This service may not be available for painkillers and certain kinds of medications.

Orbost Medical Clinic offers all the best elements of a traditional family practice with 15 minute appointment times.

Services offered include:

  • Chronic disease management plans
  • Mental health plans
  • Women’s health nurse
  • Immunisations and wound dressings.

Appointment times are flexible and your needs will be assessed for urgency via our triage system.

Emergency appointments are available every day.

Allied Health Services

Orbost Medical Clinic has direct access to Allied Health professionals including:

  • Exercise Physiologist
  • Dietitian
  • Podiatrist
  • Women’s Health Nurse
  • Drug and Alcohol Counselling
  • Peri-Natal Counselling.

The medical clinic facility is connected to Orbost Regional Health (ORH), enabling integrated care with the full range of services offered by ORH, as well as easy access to admitted hospital patients, aged care facilities and the urgent care department.

Visiting Specialists and Telehealth

Visiting specialist to Orbost Medical clinic include a Cardiologist, Rheumatologist and Pediatrician.

The clinic also offers a comprehensive range of specialist consultations via telehealth, limiting the requirement of patients to travel for health care.

Ask your doctor whether telehealth is an option for your care.

Women's Health

Our highly experienced Women's Health Nurses provide women with another avenue for general women's health services without the necessity for a doctor’s visit, such as:

  • Breast self examination (BSE) education
  • Pap smears
  • Breast Cancer Support Group
  • Outreach Clinic service monthly to remote rural areas

For pregnant women, Orbost Medical Clinic provides ante natal care with a visiting obstetrician every 4 weeks.

Women's Health nurses provide work in liaison with the General Practitioners.

Adolescent Health

The Adolescent Health nurse provides support and advice to both male and female adolescents on all aspects of general and reproductive health in a confidential and relaxed environment.

Personal development courses are held in primary and secondary schools, in both local and remote rural areas.

A small fee applies to this service.
