Navigating aged care
We understand that navigating residential aged care can feel complicated, particularly when you are making decisions for yourself or someone you care about.
Our team is here to help make the process easier to understand and to support you and your family through the next steps.
Before moving into residential aged care, you will generally need to register with My Aged Care and complete an assessment. This helps determine your eligibility for residential aged care, the level of care you may need and the fees and contributions that may apply.
My Aged Care is the starting point for accessing Australian Government-funded aged care services.

- understand the information provided by My Aged Care
- discuss accommodation and care options at Snowy River Views
- understand what information we need from you

Understanding fees and accommodation costs
Residential aged care fees vary depending on individual circumstances.
Accommodation may generally be paid through a:
Refundable Accommodation Deposit (RAD) – a lump sum accommodation payment.
Daily Accommodation Payment (DAP) – a daily accommodation payment instead of a lump sum.
Combination payment – a combination of RAD and DAP.
Other aged care fees and contributions may also apply depending on your circumstances and the Australian Government aged care arrangements that apply to you.
Because aged care fees can be complex and government arrangements can change, we recommend speaking with My Aged Care, Services Australia or our Snowy River Views team about your individual situation.
